Individuals hired into this position will be employed by EDUStaff in contract with Mid Michigan Community College.


This position involves teaching a MMCC speech course (SPE 101) in an environment primarily comprised of dual enrolled students at Farwell High School, in Farwell, MI. The class meets in the winter of 2018 on MWF from 8:00 a.m. – 9:15 a.m. This position holds accountability for instruction, student assessment, and evaluation of a diverse student population. 


Applications will be reviewed beginning November 20, 2017; however, applications will be accepted until the position is filled.  


  1. Teach assigned courses.
  2. Develop and update syllabi, according to departmental course objectives, for courses assigned.
  3. Participate in the department’s assessment of student learning outcomes.
  4. Observe and assess student-learning competencies providing timely feedback to students.
  5. Maintain and report appropriate classroom records: g., grades, attendance, etc.
  6. Work collaboratively with other departmental faculty on projects aimed at assessing and improving student learning.
  7. Hold office hours for assisting students.
  8. Participate in adjunct faculty development.
  9. Maintain regular communication with Library and Learning Services staff.
  10. Attend, facilitate, and/or lead departmental meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide.
  11. Adheres to departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; recommends changes to departmental procedures as necessary to improve the efficacy of the Department.
  12. Support and serve as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives. Adhere to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of course content and objectives for the speech offerings.
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective learning environment for students to maximize their success.
  • Knowledge of computer and educational technology and ability to effectively integrate technology into the classroom.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty and administration.


  • Required Master’s degree in Speech or Communications or
  • Required Master’s degree and 18 graduate credits in Speech or Communications.


  • Two years of teaching experience preferred; ideally at the community college level.

Working Environment:

Normal classroom environment with little, if any discomfort due to heat, dust, noise and the like.  Ability to travel to Farwell High School located in Farwell, MI.
