Full-time position coordinating, planning, and scheduling nursing clinical rotations for the Nursing Program. Assisting in the Clinical Simulation Center with skills validation, demonstrations, and other requirements.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the scheduling of all clinical rotation sites for the Nursing program.
  2. Assist with coordinating outside rotation experiences for the Nursing program.
  3. Up to 50% of the position will be required to assist in the Clinical Simulation Center (i.e., set up, tear down, skill demonstration, validate student skills, assist with simulation exercises, etc.).
  4. Participate in regional clinical planning sessions.
  5. Maintain clinical calendar and ACEMAPP/CastleBranch® requirements.
  6. Assist with maintaining documentation of faculty and student immunizations and education requirements for clinical placement.
  7. Obtain student clearance requirements each semester (i.e., glucometer, computer access, badge access, etc.).
  8. Develop and maintain policy and procedures specific to each of the clinical sites.
  9. Coordinate orientation of new adjunct faculty members to clinical sites.
  10. Assist with clinical site visits and clinical surveys.
  11. Develop partnerships to provide additional clinical opportunities outside of the acute care and extended care facilities.
  12. Participate in review and revision of curriculum objectives and standards which conform to college policies, legislation, laws, and accreditation agencies.
  13. Participate as an active member of the Nursing Advisory Committee.
  14. Stay current on nursing concepts and practice related to nursing education.
  15. Assist in recruitment of students for the Nursing program; engage in student academic advising.
  16. Participate in college wide committees.
  17. Perform other tasks and duties which may be assigned by the Director of Nursing or Dean of Health Sciences.

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Must be familiar with associate degree nursing education concepts and health sciences programs.
  • Must be committed to the enrichment of the Nursing program and student outcomes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and detail-oriented skills.
  • Competent in computer skills.
  • Able to incorporate technology into the Nursing Program environment.

Education, Certification, Licensure:

  • MSN required (or completion of MSN within six months of hire).
  • Currently licensed or eligible for licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in nursing practice.
  • Teaching or mentoring experience preferred.

Working Environment:

  • The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an office/classroom environment which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability. The environment has little, if any discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is light noise within the environment.
  • There may be occasional travel to other college locations for meetings.
  • There may be occasional travel for conferences/training.
  • Duties are performed in an independent atmosphere without close direct supervision.
  • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 45 pounds).
  • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some unpleasant situations.
  • Typical work schedule is 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexible or extended hours as needed by department demands.
