    Individuals hired into this position will be employed by EDUStaff in contract with Mid Michigan Community College.
  • Overview

    Position involves preparing for and teaching the range of courses in assigned discipline area to achieve course requirement and student success outcomes. Course assignments will be in both a classroom and learning lab setting.

    Responsibilities

    1. Teaches assigned classroom courses, including safety and environmental issues.
    2. Maintains welding lab.
    3. Utilizes departmental syllabi.
    4. Assesses student academic achievement, providing students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
    5. Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, including attendance and grades.
    6. Prepares welding lab for classes (e.g., student stations, tools, equipment, supplies, etc.)
    7. Work with area manufacturers regarding the implementation of competency-based objectives and outcome measures for the WLD program and courses taught.
    8. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college. Ensures support for the Teaching Profession Code of Ethics.
    9. Maintains and reports appropriate lab records (e.g. inventory, PROE, etc.).

    Qualifications

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Knowledge of the welding industry.
    • Knowledge of the welding lab work environment.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with others.
    • Ability to work with students in an educational environment.

    Education, Certification, Licensure:

     

    • Associates degree preferred.
    • Welding Certification required.

    Experience:

    • Two years of experience working in professional welding setting.
    • Two years of experience working as a welding instructor.

    Working Environment:

    • Moderate discomfort due to noise, temperature changes, dirt, dust, and the like consistent with a shop environment.
    • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 45 pounds).
    • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some unpleasant situations.
    • Work scheduled may vary each semester depending on class times/locations.
    • Course assignments will be on both campuses, and may include both day and night classes.
    • Ability to travel to Harrison and Mt. Pleasant campus locations.
