    Builds productive relationships between the college and a broad range of regional partnerships with K-12, businesses and industries to provide credit and non-credit program solutions as well as short term and customized trainings. This position will operate primarily in the Thumb area with occasional travel to Harrison and Mount Pleasant.


    Position is posted open until filled.  Review of applications will begin on September 17, 2018.


    1. Provides leadership and oversight in addressing the credit and non-credit needs of the Thumb region. Works with K-12, business, and industries, and engages subject matter experts to assess needs and to provide programs specific to those needs.  Oversees budget, staffing, purchasing and scheduling of programs being delivered.
    2. Works with local K-12 schools and college personnel to schedule credit and non-credit courses at various locations throughout the Thumb region.
    3. Coordinates technological needs between class locations to ensure consistent and high quality service at all Thumb locations.
    4. Participates with agencies and career fairs as appropriate.
    5. Assists with the identification of available grants, grant writing and reporting activities.
    6. Assists in the development and implementation of departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; recommends changes to departmental procedures as necessary to improve the efficacy of the institution’s goals and initiatives.
    7. Participates in internal and external community events in the Thumb region to develop, support and enhance our relationships with various constituencies.
    8. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization’s policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines. Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations guiding the function.
    9. Performs other duties as assigned.



    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    • Ability to lead, develop and implement a broad range of programmatic initiatives to include customized training, technical and occupational programs.
    • Ability to initiate and develop effective working relationships with regional K-12 districts, businesses and industries, as well as faculty, administrators and students.
    • Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate, orally and in writing, with various constituents.
    • Computer skills and competency with Word and Excel.
    • Knowledge of grant administration and ability to write and submit successful grant applications, and follow up reports.
    • Work with others on student placement strategies for programs.
    • Ability to develop and monitor budgets, and perform data collection and analysis.
    • Working knowledge of industry and technical education programs to include operations, equipment and terminology.
    • Ability to maintain Mid’s academic standards to programmatic activities related to position.
    • Analytical ability to identify and resolve a variety of issues or challenges in an effective and timely manner.
    • Mental ability to adapt and respond to multiple priorities and demands in a fast paced work environment, and deal effectively and timely with the concerns of faculty, administrators, employees and students.
    • Physical ability to sit/stand, and travel, for short - extended periods of time.
    • Attend various events outside of normal business hours and locations.


    Education, Certification, Licensure:

    • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university program in Business, Administration, Management, or related field.
    • Master’s Degree in related field preferred.



    • Two to five years of professional/managerial experience, preferably in a college environment preferred.
    • Previous work experience in the area of community development, training.
    • Successful record of achievement with building and maintaining relationships with community and business leaders.
