    Successful applicants for these paid internship positions will be motivated, quick learners, adept at highly-detailed, often digital work within our Technology Services and Academic Affairs divisions.  These candidates will gain experience working with accessibility, including but not limited to closed captioning, .pdf accessibility, web-based content, non-web-based content, and instructional content.


    The duties of this position will primarily take place on the Harrison, MI campus.


    1. Provide closed captions to multimedia using proper grammar, spelling, and syntax.
    2. Review existing closed captioning and revise it as necessary.
    3. Provide alt+text to images in digital and non-digital formats.
    4. Complete accessibility training as assigned.
    5. Reformat and revise documents and content (web-based and non-web-based) to adhere to accessibility standards.
    6. Use accessibility training and standards to ensure documents, content, etc. is as accessible as possible.
    7. Perform other duties as assigned.


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

    1. Ability to learn quickly, problem solve, and communicate effectively.
    2. Can work independently to complete highly-detailed work.
    3. Solid grasp of appropriate grammar, spelling, and syntax.
    4. Good proofreading skills.
    5. Preferred familiarity with screen reader software such as Apple VoiceOver.


    Education, Certification, Licensure:


    •  Enrollment in at least one College/University credit


    • Experience with computer hardware, software programs (Microsoft Office), and AV technologies preferred.

    Working Environment:


    • The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an office/lab/classroom environment which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability. The environment has little, if any discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is light noise within the environment.
    • There may be occasional travel to other college locations for meetings.
    • Job duties may be performed in an independent or a team atmosphere.
    • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 25 pounds).
    • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some unpleasant situations.
    • Typical work involves a flexible schedule as needed by department demands.
