Overview

The position involves preparing for and teaching courses in the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program in order to achieve course requirements and student success outcomes. Course assignments may occur in a classroom setting, learning lab, or online environment. 

Responsibilities

  1. Teaches assigned online courses.
  2. Completes online training and annual training as required.
  3. Develops and updates syllabi for courses assigned and ensures course content and requirements meet the requirements of college and accreditation agencies.
  4. Develops appropriate assessment tools to determine course effectiveness and assures that student outcomes are achieved.
  5. Assesses student academic achievement and provides students with timely and meaningful feedback on progress in the course(s).
  6. Maintains and reports appropriate classroom records, to include student attendance and grades.
  7. Holds appropriate office hours for meeting with and assisting students; office hours and student meetings may be in an online or face-to-face format.
  8. Maintains regular communication with administration, faculty in Imaging Sciences, Michigan Community College Association, Library and Learning Services, the Registrar and Retention Services.
  9. Attends and participates in staff meetings and in-service programs within the department and college-wide; serves on college committees as encouraged/assigned.
  10. Supports and serves as a role model for our mission, vision, and student service initiatives.
  11. Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations.
  12. Adheres to the policies, procedures, and compliance guidelines of the college and department. Ensures all communications and practices demonstrate support of the Ethics for Teaching Professionals.
  13. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Knowledge of course content and learning objectives of assigned course(s).
  • Ability to develop and effectively deliver course content/objectives and facilitate an effective online learning environment for students to maximize their success.
  • Multidisciplinary focus and ability to align teaching with the broader goals and objectives of the college.
  • Knowledge of computer and educational technology and ability to effectively integrate technology throughout the course.
  • Ability to plan, organize and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be comfortable working in a close, collaborative manner with other faculty, administration and students.

Education, Certification, Licensure:

  • Holds academic and/or professional credentials appropriate to the subject content area taught- RT(MR).

Experience:

  • One – three years of teaching college level courses in the discipline area strongly preferred.
  • Experience with online instruction preferred.
  • Previous experience in a community college environment preferred.
  • Knowledgeable of course development, instruction, evaluation, and academic advising.

Working Environment:

  • The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an office environment which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability. The environment has minimal, if any, discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is minimal noise within the environment.
  • Travel to other campus locations is required.
  • Travel for conferences/training/workshops is required.
  • Duties are performed in an independent atmosphere without close direct supervision.
  • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 45 pounds).
  • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may occasionally be involved in sensitive conversations with students or staff members.
  • Typical work schedule is 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexible or extended hours as needed by department demands.
