Overview

This position is responsible for performing recruiting activities, both on and off-campus.  The incumbent is expected to provide traditional recruiting to all prospective high school students in their designated recruiting area.  The incumbent will be a primary point of contact for local schools to promote Mid’s programs and offerings.  Other recruitment targets include, but are not limited to, international, guest, and non-traditional students, as well as veterans.

 

This position also works closely with faculty and academic administrators to facilitate program promotion and to increase enrollment for dual enrolled, transfer, technical, and occupational program students.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Coordinates recruitment activities at area high and junior-high schools to promote greater awareness of and enrollment at the College.
  2. Presents at technical, vocational, and adult education organizations, as well as community and public events in order to promote the college.
  3. Designs and delivers compelling presentations, and provides appropriate follow-up, one-on-one meetings and materials about Mid’s main values, vision, and processes by which prospects become enrollees.
  4. Develops and retains relationships with schools and school personnel, including counselors.
  5. Arranges and coordinates both on and off campus recruiting events, including events for high school or junior high personnel.
  6. Coordinates and supervises admissions’ ambassadors and work studies.
  7. Works to increase enrollment for occupational and online programs, and to support growth of non-traditional, international, guest, and veteran students, as well as any other targets that might support Mid’s Enrollment Management and Strategic Plans.
  8. Assists in the conceptualization of materials that support recruitment and communication to prospective and accepted students and ultimately promotes increased enrollment.
  9. Works with faculty on a regular basis in order to understand and promote Mid’s programs and degrees.
  10. Coordinates with other college and campus offices to provide current information for students.
  11. Coordinates with the admissions and marketing offices to ensure appropriate and ongoing communication and correspondence with prospective and accepted students.
  12. Responsible for developing relationships and recruiting activities to support and grow the college’s dual enrollment program, including holding parent or community information meetings and overseeing office-level communication tracks with DE students.
  13. As part of the admissions team, actively engages in improvements to admissions’ goals, targets, methods, measures, and outreach.
  14. Successfully implements duties and objectives contained in annual recruitment and marketing plans.
  15. Assists in the development and implementation of departmental objectives, policies, procedures and standards; recommends changes to departmental procedures as necessary to improve the efficacy of the institution’s Admissions goals and initiatives.
  16. Supports and serves as a role mdel for our mission, vision, values, and customer service initiatives. Adheres to the organization's policies & procedures, and compliance guidelines. Ensures compliance with all federal and state regulations guiding the Admissions function.
  17. Per the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (Clery Act), a federal consumer protection law, your job position entails functions that meet the definition of a Campus Security Authority (CSA).  CSAs have a duty to report any crime to the College’s Clery Compliance Officer. This information may be disclosed to them directly, through third-party, or witnessed. As a CSA, you are required to complete annual training which is provided by the College. This training encompasses your role, responsibilities, and reporting obligations

  18. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with a wide range of audiences.
  • Effective motivational skills, sales abilities.
  • Ability to use computers, programs, and general office equipment.
  • Attention to detail, and the ability to work with figures and budgets.

Education, Certification, & Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree required; BA/BS in related field preferred (e.g., Business, Communications, Marketing)
  • Master’s degree in related field preferred.

Experience

  • At least two years of relevant experience in a variety of areas. For example:
    • College Recruiting
    • Marketing/Public Relations
    • Event planning
    • College Student Services

Working Environment:

  • The job responsibilities of this position are performed in an office type environment, and also includes frequest visits to external sites (i.e., high schools, technical centers, community events, etc.) which requires a professional image and demeanor, on-time attendance and reliability. The environment has occasional discomfort due to heat, cold or dust. There is minimal noise within the environment.
  • There will be occasional travel to other college locations for meetings.
  • There will be occasional travel for conferences/training.
  • Duties are performed in an independent atmosphere without close direct supervision.
  • The job has intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward (5- 45 pounds).
  • Must meet reasonable and sometimes shifting deadlines, quotas, or demands for accuracy, and may be involved in some unpleasant situations.
  • Typical work schedule is 8:00am – 4:30pm with flexible or extended hours as needed by department demands.
